10 phrases that can make or break a relationship in remote chatting

Two people talking to each other, it is more than exchanging words, it’s more like dancing. They are sharing emotions, ideas, values, and culture.

So, what happens when we keep just the words?

All these modern tools for remote communication sure helped us reach people on the other side of the globe but without the gestures, tone of voice and mannerisms.

And here is where the troubles start…

10 phrases that can make or break a relationship in a remote chat:

  1. We need to talk.

  2. Didn’t get it.

  3. Don’t you get it?

  4. What do you mean?

  5. Where are you?

  6. Fix it. Asap.

  7. As I already said,…

  8. Is this clear?

  9. Is this finished, yet?

  10. Do that. Don’t do that. (Imperative speech)

Now, let’s do an experiment.

Try to tone this sentence “Are you talking to me?”, differently. What feeling do you get?

Are you talking to me?”

“Are you talking to me?”

“Are you talking to me?”

“Are you talking to me?”

.. or try the DeNiro way.

At the end of the day, we still need to speak to each other and be heard, even via text sharing apps.

Communication is behavior and emotion.

So our advice is, however you choose to communicate try to include also your intentions, expectations, and feelings. And why not… use some emoticons.
